The MACH principles are at the core of the Evolve platform. Through the decoupling layer and the GraphQL federation service, Evolve is agnostic to back-end implementations and can therefore be integrated with any of them, even more than one at a time. With that, Evolve is composable in itself.

Evolve is designed for the cloud and built in the cloud. It supports any of the popular cloud providers and implements native cloud services where possible. The MACH composer platform is included for deploying composable commerce stacks to any environment. And if your usecase requires it, we have the ability to integrate Kubernetes as well.

Demo environments are available on all major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure). It contains data relevant to fashion, technology and some other verticals.

The platform is named Evolve because it is made to evolve with every implementation. Our mission is to make Evolve the platform standard for composable commerce implementations that adhere to the MACH principles.

Evolve consists of code that needs to be upgraded, as well as several packages that can be updated automatically. We are in the process of making Evolve inherently (more) upgradeable to reduce the surface that needs to be managed in an implementation.

We see digital agencies using the product to great success, but we see significant value at several ‘joint’ client teams that are learning how to practice composable architecture through Evolve as well as MACH composer. 

Evolve is Well Architected according to industry best practices and standards and supports any MACH use case on top of it, rather than being tightly coupled to a specific Vendor, which is often the case with alternative accelerators. It implements best practices that we learned in over 10 years of building composable and cloud native architectures. 

90% of the composable architecture decisions are incorporated in the Evolve platform, which means that teams can focus on business value rather than plumbing. Through our projects we’ve seen pretty much everything and our best practices (we do have battle scars) are incorporated in Evolve.

The result of this is that from the start, projects built with Evolve will be secure, high performance, reliable and highly productive for developers to work with. You will not only speed up enormously during implementation (a release in 9 weeks is possible), upon release we estimate your teams to be 20% more productive moving forwards. 

You pay a license fee based on the complexity of the environment you intend to build and the amount of products and orders you process. For this license fee you get the full platform product, and access to the platform updates.

Clients receive a license to use and modify the Evolve IP for their use cases.

In principle, any part of the platform can be extended. Evolve is delivered in the form of source code and can be changed at any level. Furthermore, many open-source parts are used (i.e. MACH composer and several Terraform providers) that can also be extended or forked if desired. 

Evolve is designed to be vendor agnostic and adheres to the MACH principles itself. This means that any platform can be integrated, provided it has an API.

Evolve can be run as managed service by Lab Digital in the preferred cloud environment, or it can be deployed in the customer's own cloud environment.

All regions are supported.

Evolve operates on all cloud platforms: GCP, AWS, Microsoft Azure and Vercel

Implementation of Evolve can be done by your own teams, potentially with support from our Professional Services. It can also be implemented by an experienced System Integrator partner.

We’ve seen implementations being done in as fast as 3 sprints (9 weeks), which would take at least 12 sprints if done from scratch. Depending on the amount of customization that is layered on top of Evolve, that implementation time might be extended. However, even a very complex customer is generally finished in about 8 sprints (24 weeks).

There are no limitations on the volume of orders and/or customer visits that Evolve can support. Evolve runs in production for over 40 sites of any size (some of them with over a billion euro in yearly revenue) and has been performance tested numerous times to find bottlenecks.

Testing is implemented through the stack at multiple levels. At the code level we implement unit and integration testing. We implement end to end and API testing using playwright and performance testing with K6. Evolve features significant code coverage of all modules with unit tests. We aim to have 100% of the critical purchase path covered with automated tests, and 50% of other flows.

High performance in distributed architectures is a big challenge. With Evolve we’ve implemented all our best practises to ensure fast response times for all requests under any load.

In most cases the Evolve platform is run for our clients as a managed service under an SLA by an implementation agency and/or SI. In case management of the platform is taken over by the customer or other development party, Professional Services can be purchased for further consultancy.
